Overview from movies.go.com:

Based on the award-winning novel by Gail Carson Levine, the story is about Ella of Frell (Anne Hathaway), a young woman who was born with the "gift" — given by a magical fairy godmother — of absolute obedience. But when her inability to disobey orders threatens to keep her away from her true love, Prince Charmont (Hugh Dancy), she sets out on a journey to rid herself of the curse.

Personal Critique:
I thought this movie was delightful, and exactly what it was supposed to be--an entertaining, WHOLESOME movie for the younger kids---these aren't made that often anymore, and when they are, they usually do badly because younger kids are seeing movies for older people. But anyways, Anne Hathaway does an excellent job playing Ella, one of my favorite story roles when I was younger. Char is cute and sweet, a perfect prince. Lots of lightheartedness, and even the dark plot twist is not too scary. If you have kids, or are just young at heart, see this movie.
